1. Let someone know you will be away and for how long.

2. If you're just going to be away for a day or two, ask a neighbor to collect your mail and newspaper for you.

3. If you are going to be away for a longer period, you can have your mail and newspaper stopped for the duration:

       a. U.S. Mail -      Vacation Hold

       b. B'ham News - Vacation Hold

4. Use lamp timers.
